Producer Profile

With the ‘Klur Nature’ project, Clement Klur pushes the boundaries of what it is possible from his small estate on the steep slopes of Alsace.

Intent on producing wines as naturally as possible, his philosophy goes beyond organics and biodynamics, and the wines see no fining, no filtration, and no added sulphur (around 10mg/l in most wines), whilst grapes are handpicked and pressed in tiny traditional presses to ensure as little interference from vine to bottle as possible. This all results in intense flavours and textures that offer a unique and vital expression of variety and terroir.

Viticulture

Great wine always starts in the vineyard. Organic since 2000 Klur Nature is a small 1.7ha vineyard on the hills surrouding Katzenthal, every process is carried out by hand in a biodynamic fashion, with a little help from the horses that are used to plough the rows.

Winemaking

Macerated as while bunches for two weeks, this is a hand made and foot crushed wine. Pressed by hand using a traditional small wooden press this is produced with no added sulphites, filtration or fining and is as natural is they come.

Tasting Note

This orange wine has an intense nose packed full of flora like rose petals, lychee with grip sitting in the background. Full and long in the mouth.
