Autumn Roadshow 2024
The exciting work to integrate Alliance Wine and H2Vin is underway, making this a busy Autumn so far! Our immediate priority has been to develop the new combined portfolio of producers we would like to share with our customers in the new year.
With so much excitement around the additions to our portfolio, we couldn't help ourselves and had to share an idea of what our customers can look forward to, hosting several small preview events around the country.
With tastings, lunches and masterclasses at celebrated venues, kicking off in Glasgow, heading south to London, and finishing in Edinburgh, we have done a whirlwind tour tantalising people with a smattering of the treats to come in 2025.
"The French Connection", our walkaround tasting in the beautiful surroundings of Glasgow's Ubiquitous Chip, took us back to our roots in more ways than one. Hosted by our founder and Chairman, Chris Bouteiller, the event took place almost forty years to the week that Chris started Alliance. Focusing solely on France, attendees were treated to a lineup that combined some of the best of H2Vin's wines and the current Alliance portfolio. It was a fitting start to our autumn roadshow, to recognise the joining of H2Vin and to celebrate our fortieth birthday. With over 120 customers attending on the day, we received some very complimentary feedback on the wines and even got a birthday present or two to make the day extra special!
At our next stop, the modern and elegant Trivet restaurant in Bermondsey, we showed 40 wines to a small, exclusive gathering of customers. Half of the wines were from Alliance, intertwined with half from H2Vin - including producers such as Larmandier-Bernier and Domaine Le Fay d'Homme alongside the likes of Abel Mendoza, Pazo Señorans and Equipo Navazos. It was the perfect snapshot of what is to come and what we will be able to offer. What really shone through, making the future of our collaboration such an exciting prospect, is just how well our combined ranges knit together and complement each other.
We wrapped up our preview tour at Lyla in Edinburgh. Elegant and refined, it proved the ideal destination for an intimate tasting and lunch to showcase some wonderful new additions from H2Vin. In his new role as director of prestige sales, Matt Wilkin MS, guided a fascinating tutored tasting of five flights. For the following four-course lunch, we paired each dish with two wines, demonstrating the exemplary food-matching potential of the new additions to our portfolio. Stars on the day included a spectacular Champagne from Larmandier-Bernier, while Domaine de Pallus and Antoine Sanzay superbly represented the Loire. Exceptional wines from Jean Baptiste Jessiaume and Domaine de la Vieille Julienne, representing Burgundy and the Rhône, respectively, were also highlights of the tasting.
As our autumn series draws to a close, we are now focused on our Annual Portfolio Tastings 2025, taking place next March. Attendees can look forward to tasting around 450 wines, meeting nearly 80 winemakers, and connecting with our dedicated team members. This event is a fantastic opportunity to explore the impressive range of products and services that Alliance Wine has to offer.
We look forward to welcoming you there!
