H2Vin Joins Alliance Wine

Leading independent UK wine importer and producer, Alliance Wine, is delighted to announce that they have acquired H2Vin, the highly regarded London-based old-world wine specialist. They intend to bring together their existing businesses over the coming months.

“Forty years ago, Chris Bouteiller, our chairman, founded Alliance Wine. Since then, we have endeavoured to create a better world of wine, providing the best possible range to our customers. The portfolio has evolved into a global offering from over 20 countries, gaining recent accolades such as ‘Classic Regions Merchant of the Year’ at the Sommelier Wine Awards 2024 and ‘Spanish & Portuguese Specialist’ at the International Wine Challenge 2023. However, we are always looking to develop and improve it. So, when we began speaking with Christian Honorez and Matt Wilkin MS, founders of H2Vin, it was clear that the two businesses held shared values and the complementary portfolios suggested an obvious opportunity.” explains Fergal Tynan MW, CEO of Alliance Wine.

“Our old-world excellence in the classic French regions representing the likes of Clos Rougeard, Domaine Guiberteau & Didier Dagueneau in the Loire; Domaine Rovert Chevillon and Jean-Philippe Fichet in Burgundy; La Vieille Julienne, François Villard, Domaine Equis & Le Clos du Caillou in the Rhône complement Alliance’s existing world-class offering perfectly. This creates a very exciting new proposition, and we believe that we can challenge the best in the UK market. Offering all of these producers will provide an immediate benefit to all our customers. We look forward to growing business with new and existing customers alike and nurturing those strong commercial partnerships that we are so proud to create.” continues Christian Honorez, co-founder of H2Vin.

Matt Wilkin MS, co-founder of H2Vin, added “Alliance’s history and reputation made the decision very simple in the end. Their nationwide coverage, our shared belief in excellent customer service, and their ability to deliver next day was very reassuring. We know it can benefit our customers, both existing and prospective; it will also give all our producers a new platform to grow their reach.”

All H2Vin’s employees will remain in the business in various roles, with Christian adding his considerable experience and skills to the buying team. Matt will add his expertise as a Master Sommelier to the existing roster of four Masters of Wine who already work within the Alliance business.

“The combining of the businesses will begin over the autumn. We will be creating joint trade activity and events throughout this period and into the new year, culminating in presenting the new combined portfolio to the trade at our annual portfolio tastings in March 2025. I am delighted that this deal has happened. I know this will accelerate Alliance’s growth and success in the months and years to come.” concludes Fergal.
